Shelter at Ard Bia Gallery
Thórunn Eymundardóttir lives where she was planted in a small town in north-east Iceland.
Her message is nostalgia of paradise lost. her art is the elevation of everyday life, lonesomeness and rejection, adolescence
and allergy. She cuts hair, she makes pancakes, she builds cabins in the woods, she makes nests, she tried to live in a container until it became too complicated. What was supposed be simple became too complicated, those are the paradoxes of her life.
‘(Shelter) A Sacred Space’ is a performative installation composed of objects, video material and other mediums. The work deals with our common need for shelter and how we tend to seek what we believe to be safe ‘(Shelter) A Sacred Space’ is Thórunn Eymundardóttir’s first exhibition in Ireland.
