Moorehall

 

A unique destination.

Located on the shores of Lough Carra, deep in the heart of County Mayo, this is a holiday destination
unlike any other in Ireland. The privacy of the house, the organic vegetable garden, a fishing boat and
bicycles are yours while you stay here.

Moorehall is a peaceful area far from the tourist trail but still convienent enough to drive to the towns
of Castlebar and Ballinrobe and it's an hour away from Ireland West Airport. You will be greeted
to Gubeen bacon and sausages, Ard Bia Museli, Ard Bia orange and lemon marmalade and Paolo's
multi seed soda bread to get you started.

With it's strippped wood floors, Egyptian cotton sheets and contemporary art on the walls, the house
is minimal but rustic.

Driven to distraction.

During your time at Moorehall you can explore the lake in the boat provided. Help yourself to
some fishing rods from the boathouse and you might be having brown trout for dinner, which you
can cook on the barbeque.

If fishing is not your thing then simply chugging up the lake to sightsee and stopping for a picnic is
a perfect way to spend a lazy day. You could stop off on one of the many islands and spend
the afternoon swimming. We'll give you a map of the best places to stop.

Alternatively you could take a bicycle and explore the quiet lanes and byways of Moorehall and
the surrounding area. Mooorehall is surrounded by forest and there are plenty of walks which take in
the history of the area.

 

Peace and nature aplenty.

If you like to cook then help yourself to the organic produce from the garden or you can go foraging
for mushrooms in the forest, or picking blackberries during the Autumn from the thousands
of blackberry bushes in the area.

Or you can simply relax in the peace of the house and listen to the radio or read a book as the
lake gently laps away outside.

 

Layout

Moorehall has one bedroom but there is a fouton couch and the house can sleep up to 4 people.
The mininum stay is 2 days.

 

Prices:

Moorehall is available all year round.

May and June €80 per night

July and August - €100 per night

September - €80 per night

October - April - Prices negeotiable.
