Icelandic Love Corporation

The Icelandic Love Corporation are Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir (1973), Jóní Jónsdóttir (1972), and Eirún Sigurdardóttir 1971), all currently based in Reykjavík.They have been producing performance, objects, photographs and video together since 1996. They studied in New York, Copenhagen and Berlin, respectively.

At Ard Bia they show photographs from the series Cardiac Circus and a video documentation of the performance Eruption Corruption, as well as performing live in Ard Bia's courtyard.

The images were created by The Icelandic Love Corporation, in Krysuvik, Iceland in the early spring of 2004. Photographer was Pall Stefansson. The images express the sharp and blurred line between good and evil, bitter and sweet, strong and weak. In the world of fantasy, simple becomes complicated and vice versa. Who is the real enemy and who is the real savior. For this project they have also created objects, sculptures, poems and costumes in connection to the world of the Cardiac Circus."We have an intense desire for glittery objects. Overgenerous, excessive
extravaganza. Innocent, effective terrorism; sugar in the gas tank."

The performance Eruption - Corruption also explores the duality of creativity and destruction in a humorous, political and poetic way. The video shown at Ard Bia was recorded in a dark alley in Hoxton, London in 2004.

Susan MacWilliam

Incorporating research into the fields of psychical research, psychology, physiology, photography and optical viewing devices MacWilliam's practice explores ideas about the visible and the invisible. Using video and installation the works explore ideas about the presentation and credibility of an image and ideas about vision and perception, reality and illusion.

This will be the first exhibition of the work of Belfast based artist Susan MacWilliam in Galway.
