Ben Roosevelt creates work about urban and suburban environments, visual codes, and existential confusion. His multi-media works depict the tensions that exist between individuals and their surroundings, both natural and synthetic. Using a variety of materials ranging from plastic, tile, and aluminum to video and paper, the artist addresses specific subjects like waiting rooms, social statistics, or the spatial dynamics of buildings and nature.

Gallery-based works include wall-sized installations, sound sculptures, videos, drawings, paintings, and prints. Other activities include selling socially ambiguous stickers and making covert changes to actual cityscapes. Roosevelt has participated in exhibitions and site-specific events in the United States and Ireland, including a recent solo show at Ard Bia Gallery in Galway, Ireland.
---
Other current and recent projects include an upcoming group show at Bolm Studios in Austin, Texas, and contributions to the Vending Machine Project in the Dublin Fringe Festival, 2006.

Roosevelt holds a Master’s degree in Theology from Vanderbilt University and recently completed a Master’s in Fine Art at the Burren College of Art. He has pieces in collections in Italy, France, Ireland, and the United States. The artist also works as a curator and organiser; his project Interim was shortlisted in Ireland for the Allianz Business2Arts Awards, 2006.
